🚀 Spec Tool Release Notes: Enhanced Master Management & Role-Based Access
We are excited to introduce a major update to Master Management in the Spec Tool!
Every organization now has total control over document integrity. This update allows you to precisely determine who can edit and manage your organization’s Office or Master Specifications, while ensuring the rest of your team can seamlessly use those Masters to generate their project specifications.
Key Features & Enhancements
- Role-Based Access for Master Specifications
- Creating and editing Masters is now restricted to specific user roles to prevent accidental changes and maintain a “single source of truth.”
- Restricted Master Editing Access
- Intuitive Interface & Permissions Logic
- If a user is unauthorized to edit or delete a Master, those buttons will appear grayed out.
- Hovering over the grayed-out buttons will reveal a helpful tooltip explaining the restriction and providing next steps.
- Seamless Onboarding for New Firms
- To make setup effortless, new firm signups will automatically assign the very first user as the Firm Admin by default.
💡 Why Keep Your Office Master Updated?
Securing and maintaining a standardized Office Master with these new permission controls unlocks three major advantages for your firm:
- Protect Your Intellectual Property: Centralize your design preferences and past project successes in one secure place. By preserving this data, you safeguard your firm against losing critical insights when staffing changes happen.
- Accelerate Project Timelines: Stop wasting time researching the same data repeatedly. Standardizing your firm’s language and project preferences delivers ultimate consistency and shaves hours off your specification process.
- Minimize RFIs and Change Orders: Protect your margins and keep projects moving forward. Specifying familiar, proven products from an up-to-date Master means fewer errors and zero time spent backtracking to fix old specs.
These updates are live in the Spec Tool today! If you have any questions about managing your team’s permissions or adjusting your Masters Editing List, please reach out to Customer Success at info@atsspec.com or Your Regional Manager Â
